It's time to dust off your VCR and clean the heads, because Alien: Romulus will be released on VHS in limited edition on December 3rd alongside the other physical releases, director Fede Alvarez announced yesterday during a “special screening with Beyond Fest partners” in Los Angeles.
The “fully functional VHS cassette” is intended to celebrate the 45th anniversary Foreigner The first franchise (Breast) hit theaters, 20th Century Studios wrote in a press release emailed to The edge. The film is appropriately displayed in a 4:3 aspect ratio (hopefully without pan-and-scan). It is also available in a smooth, vintage-style case.
The art for the box is by Matt Furgeson, whose other work you can see on his website. He posted a larger version of the same image as a poster a few weeks ago, which I really want to have on my wall now. I've embedded this below for your viewing pleasure.
20th Century Studios has not announced how many copies of the volume will be available, nor has it given a price for the collectible. However, if you don't want to wait for the VHS or the other physical releases, you can already purchase a digital license for it Alien: Romulus at a streaming store near you.
