The one tiny image of the new silver Mac Mini shows what appears to be a headphone jack and two front-facing USB-C ports, presumably with at least Thunderbolt 4 support. It is available with a base or Pro version of the new M4 chipset with up to 14 CPU cores, 20 GPU cores, 64GB of memory and 8TB of storage. The connections on the back remain a mystery for now.
The M4 will represent a significant jump over the M2, which is found in current Mac Minis and was last updated in January 2023. This performance boost should help with current and future Apple Intelligence processing, increasing from 15.8 TOPS to 38 TOPS, according to previous reports Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Gurman also notes that the new smaller Mini is the size of an Apple TV streamer. And it certainly looks small compared to the Mac Studio, which should make it a very compelling Mac in terms of size and performance.
Rumor has it that there will be an official Mac Mini announcement later today with full details and pricing, so stay tuned.
