Apple plans to release MacBook Airs with M4 chips in early 2025. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports. The company just updated the lineup with M3 chips this spring, but the M4 update will “likely” arrive between January and March 2025, Gurman says. Both the 13-inch and 15-inch models will apparently receive the M4 update and will have a similar design to the M2 MacBook Air.
The possible spring launch of the M4-equipped MacBook Airs means the product line won't be part of Apple's rumored announcements next week. With these updates, Apple will introduce new MacBook Pros, Mac Minis and iMacs, says Gurman.
However, if you're waiting for a new Mac Studio, don't expect that right away. The Mac Studio is currently powered by the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, but an M4-equipped version is now expected to launch “following a March software release,” meaning it will happen sometime between March and June could, says Gurman. Apple is also apparently working on an M4 Mac Pro, but Gurman didn't give a timetable for when it might appear.
Gurman reports that Apple also plans to unveil a new iPhone SE, new iPad Airs, “improved” iPad keyboards and new entry-level iPads this spring. The company just released a seventh-generation iPad Mini and will roll out the first phase of Apple Intelligence features next week.
