Epic’s ambitious digital asset shop is now open

Epic Games' Fab Marketplace, designed to serve as a unified place to purchase digital assets such as environments and animations, is now live, the company announced today. The launch of the marketplace is an important step in Epic's plans to make it easier for developers to acquire resources to develop games – and perhaps one day give them the ability to create content for an interoperable metaverse.

Epic offers an 88 percent revenue share for goods sold on Fab, which is in line with the revenue share it offers developers on the Epic Games Store. Prior to release, Epic gave developers the opportunity to prepare their Unreal Engine Marketplace and Sketchfab products to be available on Fab. (According to Epic, the ArtStation Marketplace will “continue to operate as before,” but the company plans to allow ArtStation users to transfer their content to Fab in 2025.)

Epic also shares some plans for upcoming updates for Fab. Perhaps most notably, the company reiterates that it plans to add support to Roblox and Roblox's offering Minecraft Assets. Epic also plans to give people access to its hyper-realistic MetaHumans on Fab.
