Frame.io’s massive productivity update is now available for everyone

The latest version of Frame.io, Adobe's video and photography review and collaboration platform, is available today, making it easier to manage large-scale creative projects in a single app. Adobe says Frame.io V4 is available to all web, iPhone and iPad users and is the biggest update to the platform since its launch in 2015. It adds new tagging and collaboration features that make it feel more like workflow management let tools like Trello and Asana.

It includes the “metadata” tagging model, introduced in beta earlier this year, which allows users to assign custom tags to their files such as media type, assignee, due date, social media platform and more, making them easier to manage and must be checked. Projects can also be divided into new “collection” folders that automatically update to reflect any changes or comments made to the work, creating a smoother collaboration process for teams or multiple users.

Here's what some of the new collections and tagging features look like in Frame.io V4.

Adobe says V4 overhauls every part of Frame.io to make it “faster, more powerful and more intuitive.” For example, the platforms' streaming player has been updated to minimize buffering and interruptions, and offers “frame-accurate hover and high-resolution preview” features to improve the clarity of footage.

Frame.io's Camera to Cloud (C2C) capabilities have been updated to support direct integration with Adobe Lightroom. All images uploaded to Frame.io via C2C can now be automatically transferred to a user's connected Lightroom account, allowing them to be reviewed and selected for editing in real-time, without having to upload the images to multiple platforms.

The C2C device ecosystem in Frame.io has also been expanded to support integrations with Canon, Nikon and Leica. These complement Frame.io's existing support for brands such as Fujifilm, Panasonic and RED, meaning the platform can now integrate directly with most major camera providers on the market.
