Google Chrome’s uBlock Origin phaseout has begun

Google Chrome has started phasing out uBlock Origin. The free ad blocker's developer, Raymond Hill, recently reposted a screenshot showing Chrome automatically disabling uBlock Origin because it is “no longer supported.”

The change comes with Google Chrome's migration to Manifest V3, a new extension specification that could impact the effectiveness of some ad blockers. In response to the transition, uBlock Origin launched uBlock Origin Lite, which uses Manifest V3. However, you'll need to install the extension manually because it's “too different from uBO to be automatically replaced,” according to an FAQ Hill posted on GitHub.
