Leak: AMD’s Ryzen 9000X3D chips aren’t looking like a leap forward

According to slides from an MSI presentation published by HardwareLuxx Today, the new chips can boast respectable multi-core performance from generation to generation, with an 8-core 9000X3D outperforming a Ryzen 7 7900X3D by up to 28 percent in Cinebench R23. But they can already offer a profit of just two percent Black Myth: Wukong And Shadow of the Tomb Raideraccording to MSI's preliminary testing.

And when compared to the vanilla Ryzen 9000 series, MSI found that the X3D performance was so close that it was practically the same. However, MSI notes that “performance is expected to be better on PR samples and retail chips.”

MSI expects the performance of the Ryzen 9000X3D to be the same as non-X3D chips at the same CPU frequency.

It is not clear whether HardwareLuxx broke an embargo or whether MSI could be responsible for the leak – strangely, this section of the presentation appeared to be mostly about Intel's new Core Ultra 200S chips, and it's not clear why unreleased AMD chips would be part of this section . The presentation shows that MSI's discussion on Intel chips has been postponed until October 10th.
