McLaren's MCL38 continues the tradition of featuring wheels and logos in Google colors, but like last year's special British Grand Prix version, the livery for this weekend's race features a splash of literal chrome beneath the chrome logo, which looks like it came from a custom car shop right from the start. This time, however, McLaren has added additional chrome logos and what looks like a thicker layer of metallic chrome extending across the side panels.
There's a lot of chrome, as driver Oscar Piastri casually points out:
During the 2022 season, McLaren had a large Android logo at the top of the car, but this has since been uninstalled in favor of Chrome. Don't worry; Android still runs on the drivers' new suits, along with some new chrome accents. I wonder if Oscar Piastri will still have Chrome logos on his helmet.
You can watch the rollout of this Chrome update on Sunday, October 20, when the United States Grand Prix begins at 3:00 p.m. ET.
