Nintendo is limiting how much merch you can buy from its new museum’s gift shop

The Nintendo Museum opened today in Kyoto, the company's hometown, and is already limiting some souvenir items to one per person to discourage visitors from purchasing exclusive merchandise online.

The two-story museum highlights the company's history, which dates back to 1889, when Nintendo began producing Hanafuda playing cards. There are also interactive exhibits that allow visitors to play Nintendo games in unusual ways, including with oversized NES controllers and Wii remotes that require two people to operate.

The Nintendo Museum announced via its official X account that several items will be limited to one per customer, including miniature controller keychain collections, collars, magnet collections, certain Hanafuda card sets, and the controller-shaped pillows.

Nintendo is already restricting visits to its new museum. Tickets can only be reserved online using a random process and have all been redeemed by the end of 2024.
