Like many tech companies, Lumon Industries is rolling out a return-to-the-office policy for employees, but of course this version looks a little scarier than real life. At least that's what it seems based on the first proper trailer for Season 2 of Severance pay.
After last season's incredibly exciting finale, the show continues with Mark S (Adam Scott) returning to Lumon to find things a little different than he remembers, including some of his colleagues. But some things haven't changed — namely the confusing office hallways and the unrelenting intensity of Milchick (Tramell Tillman), who is intimidating even when he's holding party balloons.
For the uninitiated, Severance pay is a science fiction story about a medical procedure – the titular severance pay – that allows Lumon employees to separate their memories between work and home, essentially creating two people in one body. It is an extreme solution to the work-life balance problem. The Outies, as they are called, have no idea what is going on in the office, while the Innies remain trapped in a hellish existence from which they can never escape. Well, except for the occasional music-dance experience.
The show is led by director Ben Stiller and creator/writer Dan Erickson. The first season (coming soon to Blu-ray) had a stunning cast, many of whom will be returning. In addition to Scott and Tillman, the cast also includes Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette.
