Starship’s fifth test flight is approved: where to watch the launch

SpaceX plans to launch Starship for the fifth time tomorrow, October 13, during a 30-minute launch window that opens at 8 a.m. ET. This comes after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said today that the company had “meeted all safety, environmental and other licensing requirements for the suborbital test flight,” it said Reuters.

The company will livestream the launch approximately 35 minutes before launch. You can watch this on SpaceX's website or its X account, as well as on the X TV app.

SpaceX's goal for tomorrow's flight is to return the Super Heavy carrier to its launch site, something that has never been done before. It is aiming for another successful attempt to land Starship in the Indian Ocean, which it achieved for the first time during its fourth flight test in June.

FAA approval wasn't expected until November, but the agency and its partner “conducted assessments more quickly than expected,” it said CNBC reported yesterday. In addition to the planned start for tomorrow Reuters writes that the FAA “also approved Starship 6’s mission profile.”
