Take-Two did not disclose Private Division's buyer or the amount paid. In an email statement to The edgeTake Two spokesman Alan Lewis wrote:
We recently made the strategic decision to sell our Private Division label in order to focus our resources on growing our core and mobile business in the long term. As part of this transaction, the buyer acquired our rights to virtually all of Private Division's live and unreleased titles.
Take-Two will continue to support No Rest for the Wicked, which released in Early Access for PC in April. We are grateful for the contributions the Private Division team has made to our company and are confident they will continue to thrive in their new home.
That's what Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said GamesIndustry.biz that the buyer would be named soon, saying: “Private Division's team has done a great job supporting independent developers and almost one to one: every project they have supported has done a good job.” However, the scope of this was Projects, to be honest, tend to be smaller, and we are able to achieve great successes”, such as the upcoming one Grand Theft Auto VI.
