The Model 3 Standard Range, which was designed to achieve a range of 272 miles on a full charge, used cheaper lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells made in China. Imports are likely to become more expensive due to the Biden administration's decision to increase tariffs on Chinese batteries, semiconductors and critical minerals. It's the only model that came close to the short-lived and long-promised $35,000 Model 3 before incentives.

Tesla's RWD Long Range costs $3,500 more than the discontinued Standard Range. It's not a huge price difference considering the Long Range has an estimated range of 363 miles on a full charge, although Tesla has been accused of inflating its range estimates.
