SAG-AFTRA and members of the Interactive Media Negotiating Group — which includes video game companies such as Activision, Insomniac Games, Take Two, Electronic Arts and more — have been negotiating a new interactive media agreement for nearly two years. Last September, SAG-AFTRA members voted to authorize the strike, warning that a strike would occur if the two parties could not reach an agreement. This summer, a strike was officially authorized and SAG-AFTRA members began picketing on July 26.
Negotiations will resume shortly after SAG-AFTRA announces the amendment League of Legends to the list of games beaten. The union filed an unfair labor conditions complaint against Formosa Entertainment, the company that provides voice acting services league and other titles developed by Riot Games. SAG-AFTRA claimed the company tried to circumvent the strike by hiring non-union talent.
Neither SAG-AFTRA nor members of the Interactive Media Negotiating Group have provided additional comment at this time.
